What happens During Surgery?
The operation usually takes about 90 minutes.
A general anesthetic will be administered before the operation commences.
A cut will be made on the line of the areola (the darker area around your nipple) and a vertical cut below your areola. Then, they will remove some of your excess breast tissue, fat and skin.
If you have larger breasts, you may also need to make a cut on the crease under your breast (inframammary fold). It will leave an anchor-shaped scar.
How long will I stay in hospital?
You should be able to go home the next day.
What is my recovery time?
You should be able to return to normal activities after 2 to 3 weeks. You should be able to return to light work after a week. Recommend doing regular light exercises as soon as possible, such as walking to speed up your recovery. The results will improve gradually over time.
