What Is a Vasectomy?
A simple and reliable method of contraception, a Vasectomy stops the transfer of sperm during ejaculation. The operation works by stopping the sperm made in the testicles from reaching the semen. Your body can still produce sperm, but the testicles reabsorb it naturally. In some cases it’s reversible, but it’s best to think of it as permanent.
Who is A Vasectomy for?
You should only consider a Vasectomy if you are 100% sure you don’t want any (more) children — so be sure to discuss with your partner, in case you have any doubts.
What happens During Surgery?
Vasectomies take 30 minutes under general anaesthetic.
How long will I stay in hospital?
You should be able to go home the same day.
What is my recovery time?
You may have some pain and swelling after your op, but you should be able to return to work in 3-5 days.
